Supplements for paintless dent repair estimates.
On a paintless dent repair (PDR) estimate, a supplement adds the damage found after approval without changing what was approved. In PDRCore the approved estimate stays locked, every supplement carries its reason, and each sent version is kept and compared with the original side by side.
- The approved estimate stays locked
- A reason on every supplement
- Agreed prices carried forward
- A supplement PDF for the adjuster
Why PDR estimates get supplemented.
Hail and door damage hides. An estimator writes what can be read under the light at drop-off, and the rest shows up once the work starts: dents behind a headliner, under a tail lamp or a trim piece, a clip that breaks on the way out, a panel nobody saw in the rain. A supplement is how that work is added and paid for.
What keeps a supplement honest is one rule: what was approved stays as it was approved. The supplement adds to it and says why, so the adjuster, the customer and the shop can each see what changed, when, and on whose word.
The reasons are few and the trade knows them: hidden damage found once work began, a change the adjuster asked for, a figure that was wrong, and a panel that was missed at drop-off.
Add the work. Leave the approval alone.
Locked once approved
The approved estimate is the version of record. The builder shows it Locked, and it can't be moved back to a draft.
A supplement, with its reason
Start a supplement and pick why: hidden damage, adjuster directed, a price correction, an added panel, or another reason you write in.
Agreed prices stay agreed
Lines carried into the supplement keep the price they were approved at. Only a manager can move an agreed price, unless the work on that line changes.
Side by side with the original
Compare the supplement with the original, line by line, with the change in the total.
Every version kept, and the paper the adjuster wants.
Every sent version kept
Each version you sent stays on the RO. A manager can delete a draft supplement that was never sent.
The supplement PDF
Export the insurance supplement, which shows the changes against the original, or the whole claim package in one file.
Supplement rate by carrier
Reports show how often each carrier's cars, and each estimator's, needed a supplement.
Questions shops ask.
What is a supplement on a PDR estimate?
A supplement is an addition to an approved paintless dent repair estimate, for damage found after the work began or for a change the adjuster asked for. It lists what changed and why, and it leaves the approved estimate as it was.
Can I just edit the approved estimate instead?
Not on an insurance RO. In PDRCore the approved estimate is locked as the version of record, and added or changed work goes in a supplement, with its reason.
Does a supplement reprice the lines that were already approved?
No. Lines carried into a supplement keep the price they were approved at. Only a manager can move an agreed price, unless the work on that line changes.
What do I send the adjuster?
The insurance supplement PDF shows the changes against the original. The claim package puts the estimate, the damage diagram, the photos and the authorization in one file.
Can I see which carriers' cars get supplemented most?
Yes. Reports show the supplement rate by carrier and by estimator, from your shop's own repair orders.
